Gamal Abdel Nasser was an influential Egyptian political leader and the second President of Egypt, serving from 1954 until his death in 1970. He is best known for leading the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, which overthrew the monarchy and established Egypt as a republic. Nasser was a key figure in the Non-Aligned Movement during the Cold War and promoted Arab nationalism, unity, and socialism. His policies aimed at modernizing Egypt, redistributing wealth, and nationalizing the Suez Canal in 1956, which led to the Suez Crisis. Despite his failures in the Six-Day War of 1967 against Israel, Nasser remains a symbol of Arab dignity and resistance to Western imperialism.
