ExxonMobil Corporation is an American multinational oil and gas company and the largest direct successor of John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil. The company adopted its current name in 1999 following the merger of Exxon and Mobil. It is vertically integrated across the entire oil and gas industry and has a chemicals division that produces plastics, synthetic rubber, and other chemical products. ExxonMobil’s headquarters are located near the Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, though it is officially incorporated in New Jersey. It is the largest oil and gas producer based in the United States and ranks as the eighth largest company in the world by revenue and the third largest in the US.
